Don’t Run

Jonah was called and ran from his responsibility,

But it wasn’t cause he didn’t have the ability.

He heard the mission but he didn’t harbor sympathy,

Within his heart, so Jonah fled his mission willfully!

He was a prophet who found himself in delinquency,

He knew the message to repent but he felt differently!

He didn’t think the Ninevites deserved God’s clemency,

And did his best to flee the general vanity!

The story of Jonah is filled with brilliant imagery,

Its point is poignant and it’s stated pretty vividly!

It’s taught in Sunday School and kids have an affinity,

With Jonah’s plight cause they can imagine it visually.

But here’s the thing, many Christians share his activity,

When we refuse to spread the Love of Jesus liberally!

So hopefully this rhyme will lead to an epiphany,

That we are called to spread the Word of God consistently!
