4. Give honor to marriage, and remain faithful to one another in marriage. God will surely judge people who are immoral and those who commit adultery.

Hebrews 13:4 NLT

Today’s passage promises to be super popular and well accepted by all those that bother to read it (sarcasm fully intended), however, considering that in today’s world, sexual sin and immorality are so prevalent and easy to commit, I think this is definitely one of those Verses that should be both taken into account and given its own moment. This is yet another small slice of “Strong Meat” to chew on and digest, so here we go!

It’s 2020 and the morals that God set forth for us to follow in order to please Him and qualify for the Reward that He went to Prepare for us have eroded in the minds of many people even in the midst of the Church. What was once considered Standards of Holiness are now called outdated and often shunned by the world at large and as such the Church, in an attempt to “keep up with the times”, has unfortunately embraced many of the practices that the current era has brought forth.

There’s just one problem; God has not changed and neither has His Expectations of us as far as Holiness go. Times have indeed changed. The accessibility of pornography, the normalization of sexual self-gratification, and the regularity of immorality on all fronts are so commonplace that to take a stand against them places you in a position of abnormality and ostracization. In short, if you speak out against homosexuality you are homophobic, if you don’t watch porn you’re weird, and if you don’t have sex before marriage you’re a prude.

Things have gotten so out of whack that what was once bad is now “good” and what was once frowned upon is now ordinary but that is not going to change how God will Judge these actions upon His Return. It really doesn’t matter how the world sees things, if God Opposes their standard of normalcy then you better believe there is going to be an issue when you try to enter Heaven and the Book is opened on your immoral conduct.

Sex before marriage is something God takes issue with and there are reasons for that. As we look at the vast number of children born out of wedlock and the crime statistics for those same demographics there is a correlation that cannot be ignored. When we look at the rate of divorce and the overall lack of concern with where and how sex is performed is there any wonder that the rest of the moral code of a world that has thrown out God’s Laws has eroded?

There are many things I could bring up but here’s the bottom line and like I said, this promises not to be overwhelmingly popular but these days, the Truth rarely is. It doesn’t matter what the common practice is. It doesn’t matter what’s trendy or fashionable as far as standards and ethics go.

If you have any expectation of going to Heaven and sharing in the Reward that God has Prepared for His Children, who He Bought and Engrafted into His Family through Adoption at a very high Price, Giving them access to the Inheritance every Child of God is subject to enjoy, then there is a benchmark that must be reached, a set of guidelines that must be followed.

We don’t get to just do whatever we want and still benefit from the Eternal Pleasure of Heaven. It doesn’t work like that. We are expected to live up to God’s Standard or miss out on the Reward that comes with compliance. He has Given us Free Will and with that comes a choice. We really can do whatever we want. However, there will always be consequences to every choice. It just so happens that the consequences of defying God’s Statutes will be missing out on Heaven and if I’m being honest, the alternative, which the majority of individual choose, is not going to live up to their expectations.

It is true that to do what God asks and live this life to His Standard takes some sacrifice. The choice is pleasure now or Pleasure later. The question you have to ask yourself is this: is a little sacrifice now worth the Reward that comes with it? If you choose God’s Standard you will likely be branded as odd and possibly even be seen as hateful and judgmental, even if you never display any of those characteristics. People don’t like to have their flaws exposed. But in the end, you will Receive a better Reward that you could have ever imagined.

So, is it worth it? Are the potential risks acceptable? Free will dictates that that choice is up to you. What will you choose, God’s Side, or the world’s? It’s a decision that literally holds your future in the balance. This subject matter may not be popular but it’s critical. We all have a choice to make. What is it worth to you? Chew on it.
