11. It was by faith that even Sarah was able to have a child, though she was barren and was too old. She believed that God would keep his promise.

12. And so a whole nation came from this one man who was as good as dead — a nation with so many people that, like the stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore, there is no way to count them.

Hebrews 11:11–12 NLT

In yesterday’s passage, we talked about the Faith of Abraham, so it’s only fair that today we cover his wife Sarah. As with so many great men, he’d have been nothing without her!

It cannot be ignored that when God made His Promise of making Abraham’s seed into a Great Nation, He made her a similar Promise as well.

God Promised Sarah that she would bear a son, which of course was the prerequisite for Abraham becoming the Father of Many Nations.

But if you know the story this was not without its controversy. As Verse 11 tells us, Sarah was more than 90 years old when God Made her this Promise.

Sarah may have been added to this Profile on Great Biblical Characters of Faith but if your Faith is lacking, don’t let it throw you. Sarah actually laughed when God originally Made His Pronouncement to her and her husband abut having a son.

So, here’s the story. God came to Abraham and told him he would be the Father of Many Nations and that his wife would bear him a son. Sarah was standing in the door of their tent and laughed to herself saying in her mind, “That’s ridiculous! I’m too old to bear a son!”

Well, you can’t forget Who we’re talking about here. God knows the thoughts and intents of our hearts, so he called her out on her doubt, redoubling His assertions that a Nation would spring forth from Abraham’s loins and by necessity from her womb as well.

Now, Sarah doubted this all at first but soon enough she believed the Report that God had given them. This specific Profile on Faith may be the most important of them all because it shows us that we can be human, that is to say, weak and full of doubt, and still exercise effective Faith in God.

There are many times we know that God has Made us a Promise because we can read it for ourselves in His Word but we really don’t believe that He can really, or will really do as His Word Says.

But even if initially, we are full of unbelief, the story of Sarah proves to us that we can always change the trajectory of our Faith and get back on track, believing God will do what He Said He Would.

We can clearly see that God Came Through for the couple and Did exactly what He Promised, regardless of Sahah’s first attitude. Sarah is the perfect example that we don’t always have to start off strong to finish strong!

Have a Fantastic Friday and Stay Safe out there!
