13. For example, there was God’s promise to Abraham. Since there was no one greater to swear by, God took an oath in his own name, saying:

14. “I will certainly bless you, and I will multiply your descendants beyond number.”

15. Then Abraham waited patiently, and he received what God had promised.

Hebrews 6:13–15 NLT

I considered charging through the last several Verses of Hebrews Chapter 6 but it’s so “Meaty” I didn’t want to rush the Succulent Goodness and just wolf it all down in one bite. So, I took the opportunity to take a smaller taste and break down the last portion of this Chapter for better understanding and appreciation.

In yesterday’s passage, the author mentioned a Promise that God made for His People to Inherit if they persevered with patience. Today we see why this Promise was so Powerful.

God makes Promises throughout His Word to us and as the author indicates, “because He could swear by no greater, He swear by himself,”.

He knows that if He makes His Promises and Binds them to His own Name, they are both Omnipotent and Eternal because He is All-Powerful and Everlasting.

Therefore, when He made His Promise to Abraham that his descendants would be multiplied beyond number, though Abraham could not see how, the deed was as good as done! There was no way the Oath God made could come to naught because the Power of the Name He Swore by was Infinite.

Abraham had to show both Faith and Patience as he waited for God’s Word to come to pass but it did indeed come to pass. This lesson is one that we today need to be keenly aware of as we proceed forward in our Walk with Christ.

First of all, we need to study the Word and be familiar with the Promises that God has made us. Then, we need to display our unwavering Faith in His Ability to Perform what he has Promised.

He cannot lie and He will not fail so it is really up to us to put our full trust in Him as we traverse the often difficult Path toward our Destined Reward. It takes Patience, Faith, and Perseverance but hold on as did Abraham and watch as God makes good on His Promises to you too! He will not fail!

Have a Tremendous Tuesday, FB, and Stay Safe out there!
