DAILY WORD 2/24/22
3. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
Psalm 1:3 KJV
Today’s Single Shot brings us back to the First Chapter of The Psalms, and it answers the questions that the last two days’ Verses asked. Why should I bother adhering to the admonitions contained within them? In a word; Blessings.
A Path has been set before us to Guide those who desire to Follow God’s Word. It starts by Utilizing Good Judgment and ends with Self-Denial and Respectfulness. From there, we are Called to Display Delight in the Law of the Lord, meaning His Commandments which we can glean from Studying and Meditating, even Memorizing His Word.
But why should I put myself out doing all that when I can just be selfish and do whatever my heart tells me to? Again it is because we desire the Blessings of the Lord upon our lives. Okay. So, why would I want that?
Verse three gives us a profile of what the Benefits of God’s Blessings and Favor look like in real-time in our lives. If you follow the directives outlined in the preceding Verses, here’s what you have to look forward to.
Strength; you will begin to Grow in the Power of God, so much so that you will Become Like a Tree, Planted Next to the Water. Alright, that’s good, and all, but you may be asking what the benefits of that might be? They are Nourishment, Nurturing, and Stability.
But the Tree metaphor is not even close to tapped out yet. Next, the author mentions another aspect of a healthy arboreal lifecycle; Fruit. What tree worth its weight doesn’t produce something that the world around it can enjoy and benefit from?
Every Healthy Christian must Produce Fruit. It is proof that we are strong enough to survive the harshness and trials of the inevitable and impending winter. It is the verification that even through all we have endured, we can still do something for someone else and not just horde our Blessings for ourselves.
This Verse clarifies that God intends us to share the Wealth of His Blessings, never forget that. But the Benefits of His Favor are not done yet! Next, it says that if we do all this, our leaf will not wither. That also indicates good health and prosperity, not just for the tree but also for its offspring.
The Blessings that we Receive from God extend beyond our lives to Bless anyone nearby. All of that, shaken together and running over stuff from Luke 6:38, directly correlates to Today’s Passage. That’s how impactful His Blessings really are! Alright, we’ve now covered the reasons for seeking out God’s Blessings. But before we conclude, there is one more Benefit addressed in this Verse.
The author tells us that if we Follow these Guidelines, whatsoever we do shall Prosper! Well, there you have it! In one Verse, the author had laid out our Blueprint to Success on God. What more can we ask for? This is literally a step-by-step manual on how to Receive Blessings from God. So, if you’re not Blessed, I suppose now at least you will know what to do about it. Right?
Getting Good Things takes effort, and God’s Blessings are no different. He has Promised us that He will Bless us, but He wants our Attention and our Loyalty in return. That’s not such a bad deal if you ask me. If we can Sacrifice a small portion of our wills, we are setting ourselves up for Favor, and the Favor of the Lord is the Catalyst for True Success.
Have a Thought-Provoking Thursday And Remember To Be a Tree Planted By The Water!
